This preset resizes any image to exactly 1024 × 768 px. The output is a landscape (wide) 4:3 frame of 786,432 pixels in total (0.79 megapixels), which counts as a medium-sized image by photo standards.

This is a standard screen resolution (XGA), so the image fills a display of that size exactly with no scaling.

Fitting a photo into 1024 × 768 px

Resizing to a fixed width and height only gives a clean result when the photo has the same shape as the target. A shape mismatch has two outcomes: the picture is stretched, or part of it is cropped. Crop first, then resize, so you decide what is cut. This is how much of each common photo would be lost to fill 4:3:

Starting photoCropped away to fill the shape
Phone photo (4000 × 3000, 4:3)Nothing: same shape
DSLR photo (6000 × 4000, 3:2)About 11% of the image
Video frame (1920 × 1080, 16:9)About 25% of the image
Portrait phone photo (3000 × 4000, 3:4)About 44% of the image

Size, quality and file weight

786,432 pixels saved as a JPG at web quality typically weigh about 76.8 KB to 230.4 KB, depending on how much detail the picture contains. Flat graphics and screenshots saved as PNG compress very well when colors are simple, and poorly when they contain photographic gradients.

For photos, JPG or WebP are good choices; for logos, text or transparency, PNG keeps edges clean.

How large can it be printed?

These figures follow from the pixel count: print size = pixels ÷ DPI. Going above the 300 DPI row gives no visible benefit; going below it looks softer.

How to resize an image to presentation slide (4:3)

  1. Add your image. Select a photo or drag it onto the box above. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC and BMP files are accepted, and the file stays on your device.
  2. Crop to 4:3 (recommended). The output is 1024 × 768 px, a 4:3 shape. Cropping to that shape first with the built-in Crop tool decides what stays in frame and avoids distortion.
  3. Confirm the size and format. The preset fills in 1024 × 768 px. Choose JPG for photos or PNG for graphics with sharp edges or transparency.
  4. Download the resized image. Click resize and save the file. The result uses Lanczos-3 resampling, which keeps edges clean when scaling down.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image to presentation slide (4:3) without stretching it?▼
Crop the photo to 4:3 first (the built-in Crop tool does this), then apply the preset. If you skip the crop and your photo has a different shape, the result is either stretched or cut off. For example, a 4:3 phone photo needs about 0% of its area cropped to become 4:3.
What aspect ratio is 1024 × 768?▼
4:3, landscape. It has 0.79 megapixels and is also known as XGA. The width is 1.33 times the height.
How big will a 1024 × 768 file be?▼
As a JPG at web quality, usually between 76.8 KB and 230.4 KB; photographic PNGs are several times larger. To fit a specific limit, use one of the file-size presets after resizing, or set a target size in the editor.
What if my photo is smaller than 1024 × 768?▼
The tool will enlarge it, but enlarging cannot add detail, so the result looks soft. Starting from a photo at least as large as 1024 × 768 gives a much sharper result.
Which format should I use for 1024 × 768?▼
JPG or WebP for photographs; PNG for graphics, screenshots and anything with transparency. AVIF can be smaller still, but it encodes more slowly and some older apps cannot open it.
How large can I print a 1024 × 768 px image?▼
About 3.4 × 2.6 in (8.7 × 6.5 cm) at 300 DPI (photo quality) and 6.8 × 5.1 in (17.3 × 13 cm) at 150 DPI (acceptable for posters viewed from a distance).
Is my image uploaded anywhere?▼
No. ResizeAny decodes, resizes and re-encodes your picture inside your browser tab, so a photo you prepare for a 1024 × 768 px image never leaves your device. You can confirm this in your browser's developer tools: the Network tab shows no upload request while you work.
