This page lets you set a target size in megabytes, for the cases where a camera photo is simply too big to email, attach or upload. Typical limits are 1 MB, 2 MB, 5 MB or 10 MB.

Enter your limit in the target size box and keep dimensions on Auto. If your photo is already below the limit, it is left as it is.

Phone photos are typically 2 to 5 MB; a limit of 1 to 2 MB usually needs only a modest quality reduction.

How the presets in this category work

Each preset below fills in a ready-made value, so you can skip typing it. Open any of them, add your photo, and the editor shows the settings already applied. You can still change every value before downloading: the preset is a starting point, not a lock.

If your exact value does not exist as a preset, use this page to enter your own. The result is processed in your browser with Lanczos-3 resampling for scaling, and is never uploaded.

How to resize an image in MB

  1. Add your image. Select a photo or drag it onto the box above. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC and BMP files are accepted, and the file stays on your device.
  2. Enter your size. Type the width and height you need and choose the unit. The aspect-ratio lock keeps the proportions unless you turn it off.
  3. Download the result. Click resize and save the file.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum target size?▼
The target size field accepts values up to 50 MB, which is also close to the largest file the tool will open in bulk mode.
Is megabytes the same as megapixels?▼
No. A megabyte measures file size; a megapixel is a million pixels of resolution. A 12-megapixel photo is usually a 2 to 5 MB file.
Can I change the preset values after opening the editor?▼
Yes. A preset only pre-fills the width, height, unit or target size. Every field stays editable, so you can start from the closest preset and adjust it.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?▼
No. ResizeAny decodes, resizes and re-encodes your picture inside your browser tab, so a photo you prepare for a MB resize never leaves your device. You can confirm this in your browser's developer tools: the Network tab shows no upload request while you work.
