Resize Image to a Target File Size

Upload forms, job portals, exam registrations and email systems often reject a picture because the file is too big, not because the picture is wrong. These presets let you name the limit (for example 50 KB or 2 MB) and let the tool work out how to get there.

The tool searches for the highest quality that still fits. It lowers the encoder quality first and, if quality alone cannot reach the number, it also reduces the pixel dimensions a little. Pick the closest limit below; each page shows how many pixels a given size can realistically hold.

Tips for this category

  • Choose a limit just under the one the form states: a 98 KB result is safer than 100 KB on the nose.
  • JPG and WebP respond to a size target. PNG is lossless, so a large PNG may only shrink by being resized or converted.
  • Start from the original photo, not a copy that was already compressed.
