This preset scales an image to 225% of its original width and height. The image gets 2.25 times wider and taller, which means 5.06 times as many pixels. Enlarging adds pixels but not detail.
Percentage resizing is relative, so every image keeps its own proportions and no target size has to be worked out in advance.

What 225% does to common images
A larger image means a larger file, roughly in proportion to the number of pixels. Expect it to grow by up to 406%.
| Starting size | Result |
|---|---|
| Phone photo (4000 × 3000) | 9000 × 6750 px (60.75 MP) |
| Full HD frame (1920 × 1080) | 4320 × 2430 px (10.5 MP) |
| Square image (1000 × 1000) | 2250 × 2250 px (5.06 MP) |
Before you enlarge
Enlarging to 225% creates pixels the camera never captured. The tool interpolates between neighboring pixels, so edges and text get softer the further you go. A scale up to about 150% is usually tolerable for photos viewed at normal size; beyond that, look for the original or a higher-resolution version.
If the larger image is for print, check the pixel count against the print size first (pixels ÷ DPI = inches). Doubling the width and height quadruples the number of pixels but not the amount of detail.
| Scale | Pixels remaining | 4000 × 3000 becomes |
|---|---|---|
| 25% | 6.3% | 1000 × 750 |
| 50% | 25% | 2000 × 1500 |
| 75% | 56.3% | 3000 × 2250 |
| 100% | 100% | 4000 × 3000 |
| 150% | 225% | 6000 × 4500 |
| 200% | 400% | 8000 × 6000 |
